Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how County Map Pro (https://countymappro.com/) handles information when you browse our website or use our interactive county tools.

Information handled by our tools

The “What County Am I In?” tool requests device-location permission only when you select that option. If you approve, the browser obtains coordinates and sends them to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoding service to identify your county.

If you enter a street address, the browser sends that address to the Census geocoding service. Other tools may request geographic or demographic information from external data services. We do not intentionally store the location or address entered into these lookup tools in the WordPress site database.

Third-party services can receive technical information, such as your IP address, when your browser contacts them. Their collection, logging, and retention practices are governed by their own policies.

Website logs and technical information

Like most websites, our hosting and security systems may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, pages requested, request times, and error logs to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

External map and data services

Our tools use or may load services and resources from the U.S. Census Bureau (including TIGERweb and Census Geocoder), Census Reporter, OpenStreetMap tile servers, and the Leaflet mapping library delivered through a third-party content delivery network. These services may receive requests directly from your browser.

Cookies

WordPress and its plugins may use functional cookies for administration, security, and site operation. Comment or login features, if available and used, may set additional cookies. Your browser settings can limit or delete cookies, although some site features may stop working.

If analytics, advertising, or additional third-party services are added later, this policy and any applicable consent controls should be updated to reflect their use.

Comments and messages

If commenting is enabled and you submit a comment, WordPress may collect the information you provide, plus technical details such as your IP address and browser user agent for moderation and spam prevention. Messages you voluntarily send to the site operator may be retained as needed to respond.

Retention and security

We retain site-operation records and voluntarily submitted information only as reasonably needed for operations, security, and applicable obligations. Retention periods can vary by record type and hosting service. No online system can guarantee complete security.

Your choices and rights

You can decline browser location permission and use an address lookup instead. You can control browser cookies and third-party settings. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information held about you, subject to lawful exceptions.

Children

The website is intended as a general geographic reference and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Please do not submit another person’s private address without an appropriate reason or authorization.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when our technology or privacy practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest substantive version.
